Lowell was born March 10, 1932 in Elizabeth, Indiana. He graduated from Elkhart University with a degree in Dental Technology at the age of 21 years old.
During his 60 years in the dental field he accomplished a great deal: he founded Michiana Dental Studio in 1969, he held the office of President of the Association of Indiana Dental Laboratories, developed and patented the techniques and processes for the Tri-Tone Characterizations of Dentures, and he was a loving husband and great father who raised 5 children.
His hobby’s included: farming over 300 acres, hunting, fishing, gardening, raising hunting dogs, and he was a life-long Dodger fan.
We lost Lowell to cancer on April 13, 2013. He was a great man and is sorely missed by all.
I was born in Elkhart General Hospital and grew up in a farm out on C.R. 28. I started working for Michiana Dental Studio in 1979 when my father Lowell F. Sonner (Founder of Michiana Dental Studio), offered me a starting position. I decided to move to California for some time to continue my education and fell in love with accounting. I worked in this field for over 12 years, received my Paralegal Certificate, and was one of the top Administrative Assistants at the Riverside Community College District Offices before returning to my home state of Indiana.
I have been happily married to my wonderful husband for more than 10 years now. We have two bright and amazing daughters named Natalia and Victoria.
My father built this incredible company from the ground up but he sadly passed away in the spring of 2013. We feel blessed for the time we were able to spend with him before he moved to a better place.
Our mission for Michiana Dental Studio is to continue the legacy that Lowell Sonner laid before us. I feel honored to be a part of this company and will do all I can to make him proud.
In 1980 while in high school I procured a part-time job working in the laboratory of a local Orthodontist. I worked for him for 3 years. After that I enrolled and acquired an Associates of Science Degree in Dental Laboratory Technology at IPFW.
After graduating, I worked in the Ortho Department at Allen Dental Lab in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 5 years, and as a part-time Teacher’s Assistant at IPFW teaching in the Orthodontic Technology department.
I started at Michiana Dental Studio in 1991 working in the Crown and Bridge department. My position and duties have evolved through the years and I now run and manage the Denture and Ortho Departments. Some of my duties include, but are not limited to: set, process, finish dentures and partials, and manufacture ortho appliances, splints and retainers.
Our team of highly trained and experienced technicians and staff are dedicated to providing the quality and service necessary to maximize patient satisfaction.
